It was my first time eating at this restaurant. We had a party of 4, we were seated quickly. The service was OK but the food was great. Everyone tried different dishes, but my favorite was the greens and the sweet potato muffins. You have to try those if you go. The restaurant has very nice decor and they play great music, but at a low tone where you can still hear the conversation from others that you're dining with they do have a bar and plenty of parking which is accessible. The only thing I don't like is they put a 20% gratuity on parties of four so please beware of that! I'm only giving four stars because I server never came back to refill our drinks or asked if we wanted any additional items or if we need anything.

This is a nice option if you're looking for good soul food. They were packed to the walls which told me it must be something good here to check out. I'm a soul food freak, and the mac and greens were ON POINT. The sweet potato casserole was nice too. The corn bread could have been better to me, but I think that's my own particular taste on that, to me good cornbread is hard to come by. My friend got rib tips that were fallin off the bone and I has a smorgusboard or wings, catfish and rib tips. The sweet tea was great also. Worth the trip and would definitely come back!

The food is awesome and Chrissy Love our server was awesome. She was attentive and even gave us an extra bowl of gumbo from another order that was left over. The gumbo is very flavorful and the service and decor is awesome

We sat outside on the patio. The food was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious! Our server was so kind.

Don't usually go out soul food because i can get this at home. Was in Detroit and wanted to support black owned restaurant. There was a variety of options available with main courses focused on chicken, fish and ribs prepared in different ways (fried, grilled, blackened, baked, etc.). I ordered the fried catfish along with two sides - mac n cheese and greens. My partner ordered the fried chicken with red/beans and rice and fried okra. I must say this is the best soul food I've had at a restaurant ! Everything was seasoned properly, not greasy and fresh. There were many different dessert options - seasonal cobbler, chocolate, pound and carrot cake. We decided on carrot cake slice which was not as dense as I would have liked but still favorable. This is the food of the heavens! First I have to say, as we were reading reviews trying to decide where to eat in the area, Chrissy Love's name kept coming up over and over for her amazing personality, knowledge of the menu, and superior customer service at Corn Bread and we said, "we need to go see Chrissy Love!" How lucky we're we that we got to meet Chrissy Love! Chrissy if you see this - you did not disappoint! Thank you for the great service and conversation! This location is in a small strip mall, but the ambiance inside is warm and welcoming. All of the staff was welcoming, inclusive, and very friendly. The food! We started with the fried green tomatoes. I'm picky about my fried green tomatoes and these were perfection! The roulade has a slight kick and the FGT were perfectly battered and fried - crispy on the outside, seasoned well, and the inside was warm and sweet. For the table we had fried chicken and waffle, Biloxi Shrimp, Mac n cheese, sweet potato, hush puppies, coke slaw, and sweet tea. Everything was perfection! The waffle was light and fluffy. Hush puppies were fried perfectly and were warm with a hard crunch and soft innards. The fried chicken was moist, flavorful and fall off the bone delicious. Mac n Cheese was like a warm hug from the inside out. The peach cobbler..... oooooohhhhh myyyyyyy goooodnessssssss! Don't even think twice about ordering it - just do it! You won't regret it. Get it with the ice cream and whip cream - it's a work of art and tastes even better. Every bite is filled with warm gooey goodness.
